Welcome to my practice log! I'm here to keep myself accountable and to have a record to reference. Maybe some folks will enjoy checking out what I'm working on! It will most likely be swing, bluegrass or fingerpicking type stuff, (or Calentano if Time and I get a gig!) Dec. 12, 2025 Today I'm working on Norman Blake's Salt River (also known as Salt Creek) Recorded in 1976 on the album Whiskey Before Breakfast. He recorded it in Bb for some reason, seems like everyone else plays Salt Creek in A.
120 bpm in A, there are some mistakes (I prefer the term embellishments), but I think I got it correct at least once on at least one go around.
90 bpm in Bb
Dec 19, 2025 Today I'm starting my "Tunes I should Already Know" series with After You've Gone. This is the basic melody in the key of Bb, but now I need to transpose it to G because that's where all my friends play it!
